Black Beans

Ingredients​ - Makes 4-6 servings

1 can of black beans (see info on the bottom)

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp cayenne pepper

salt

Equipment

Can opener

Pot

Instructions

1. Open the can and pour it in a pot.

2. Heat up the beans until almost boiling then turn on low.

3. Add all the spices and salt.

4. Taste and adjust salt accordingly to your own tastes (We add about 1 tsp)

Notes​ - Finding canned black beans in Taipei.

The canned beans were difficult to find. The only place that I found it was at Wellcome Mart. You will notice a red and yellow sign. There's is one near Zhongxiao Dunhua Station.  Here's their wikipedia if you want to read more about the store: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellcome. Sometimes you will see dried black beans in the markets, but those are not the same. It's a Taiwanese variety that has an overall harder skin and bean than the Mexican versions.
